THE STORY OF RED MOOSE
COOKIE COMPANY
Red Moose Cookie Company was founded in 2003 by Caren Fallows in Cle Elum, Washington. The inspiration for our name came from the years Caren spent living next door to the Red Moose Inn in Washington. Caren began the business with her famous Cinnful cookie along with four other staple flavors. In 2009, Caren moved to Cambria and opened shop in Cambria’s Tin City. Along with her partner Roger Wall, they created five more cookie flavors, two new brownie flavors, and the famed Naughty Rod. Sadly, in 2016, Caren passed away and Roger continued on baking the cookies with unwavering help from a close friend and his daughter Renee.
The Nichol family first discovered Red Moose Cookie Company in 2013 on a trip to Cambria where they instantly fell in love with the Cinnful cookie. In December 2020, after years of always making a point to stop for Red Moose cookies, Tyler Nichol noticed a small note by the register announcing that Red Moose Cookie Company was for sale. Tyler returned to the car excitedly telling her parents, “I’m going to buy the Red Moose Cookie Company!” Tyler’s dream was realized when Roger accepted her offer, and on November 13, 2021, the Nichol family officially became the new owners of the Red Moose Cookie Company.
Roger stayed with the Nichol family as they continued to learn all the baking secrets. In January 2022, Roger officially retired and handed over the oven mitts and spatula as he felt that the Nichol family was ready to run the business on their own. Tyler continues to try out new recipes during the year which are offered as Limited Editions. Some of these recipes have made their way into regular baking production such as our Oatmeal Raisin with Walnuts cookie, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and Nutty Buddy.
On August 18, 2022, we took a leap of faith and opened our 784 Main Street location which is in the heart of Cambria’s bustling West Village. And so here we are, what a ride!
